Old News

Well, this is the place where old news goes to die. When you read this page you'll probably say to yourself, "hey, this is old news"... DUH!

October 4, 1999
Well another birthday has come and gone. Alex is now 3 years old. He got a ton of stuff for his birthday, his favorite is a bike from Uncle Terry and a tape recorder from Aunt Kathy. Shari and I also got bikes this week. We did a lot of bike shopping, and I have one recommendation - go to a bike shop. You may pay a little more, but the bikes are better quality and the staff are dedicated to putting together and selling bikes. (we originally tried to by bikes at Toys R US, and wound up with small bikes (we even bought the biggest they carried) that wouldn't shift gears properly (and they had really hard seats). After taking them back to the store to try to get them fixed (and failing) we decided to go to a bike store. We did and we are very happy with our new bikes. They're more comfortable to ride, smooth gear shifting, and soft seats!
Alex also had his three year old checkup. He is 3'2" tall and 36lbs. Which puts him in the 100th percentile for height (bigger than 100% of the kids) and in the 80th percentile for weight. That's all for now, I gotta get back to watching football!!!

Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated this info...where to start....It's no longer cold and snowy!...
Yes we're nearing the end of summer now, and a lot of house projects are behind us. The major one was stripping the wallpaper and painting ALL of the bedrooms, the two upstairs bathrooms, the hallway, the dining room and the family room. We hired people to do the hallway (tall ceiling and chandelier) But the rest was done ourselves. We (Shari) also hung new draperies and hardware downstairs and in the bedrooms. We moved the 'office' from one of the bedrooms to the Living room and bought new office furniture (desk and filing drawers ( we never used the living room much anyway and we don't have to trudge upstairs when Alex wants to play on the PC)) Speaking of Alex, he is nearing 3 years old now (how time flies) and he has mastered riding his tricycle. He has also reached another milestone - he is potty trained! Alex is enjoying the summer! He really loves playing on his new swingset (thanks to Grammy and Grandpa) Speaking of outdoors, we (Shari) have been busy planting new flowers and bulbs around the house. Also we (Mike) has been busy mowing lawns on his brand new riding mower! Speaking of gasoline powered vehicles, (I know I'm reaching on this segway, but work with me...) We JUST bought a new MINIVAN. Through EXHAUSTING research, we have chosen the Ford Winstar (It was a toss up between ford and honda) We chose the Ford because of the better ride comfort. Finally, the last project in development, Mike is working on a display case for the front hallway. He has never built anything from scratch (without instruction - no kit) He had a small hitch in the beginning, but he recovered and it is nearly complete. That's about it. I hope this long note will cover for a while (don't know when I'll be able to update this again) Also, I will be adding some new stuff to the main page so keep your eyes open.(I'm under pressure from my 60+ year old mother to update my web page content... sheeesh)
January 14, 1999
WOO-HOO and welcome to the new year! Christmas was great around the Barton house. There were a TON of presents (although I still don't think Alex understands what's going on. He was overwhelmed by all the gifts). Not too much to update you this time. It's cold and snowy. Thanks for stopping by.
December 4, 1998
Well, December is here and that means Christmas is coming! We will be decorating the house this weekend, and maybe mowing the lawn for the last time. (It's been SOOO warm this fall/winter that the grass has kept growing). Another benefit of the warmer than expected winter, is it gives me more time to procrastinate about fixing the snow blower (the tiny clamp that holds the fuel line broke...) I will try and get some newer pictures up. One of the house and one of me. If you are looking for pictures of Alex, let me know and I'll email them to you. (We'd rather not post them on the internet...) Speaking of Alex, he's doing well! No ear infections so far! Anyway, thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to check out what we want for xmas (the presents icon at the bottom of the page)

October 28, 1998
Wow, another long time between updates. Well, summer is gone and FOOTBALL IS HERE. To follow up with the previous message, I thoroughly enjoyed telling the cable company to kiss my ass! As it turns out I ended up with a month and a half of cable for free! Anyway, Alex had his two year birthday a month ago. He is still in the 90th percentile for kids his age. Also, he is able to talk MUCH better. He knows all his numbers and letters by SIGHT! We are all settled in our house, and things are going well. That's all for now.
July 6, 1998
Ahhhh, Summer is here....that could mean only one thing: Football is coming!!! So in order to prepare for this blessed event, we went out and bought ourselves a mini satellite dish this weekend!!! I'm gonna enjoy telling the new cable company to kiss my ass! As it turns out satellite programming is CHEAP! All regular cable channels (Nick, A&E, Discovery, MTV, TLC, USA,...) PLUS the Disney channel are only 19.99! (I was paying $40.00+)WOO-HOO! OK, now that that is out of my system, We have moved into our new house and everybody is adjusting fine. (We still have some boxes to unpack) Not too many updates this time, thanks for stopping by!
May 28,1998
Time for another update. As many of you may (or may not) know, There are big changes afoot at the barton household. Shari has decided to stay home with Alex, and Mike has found a new job. Mike will be working as a consultant for Dynax Solutions. His official title will be:Manager! Woo-Hoo! This job means we will be moving (I never did get a chance to put the ramp on the shed...) In other news, the Barton household has decided on a major purchase...A Mini Satellite Dish!! And we'll be using that dish to watch 17 weeks of NFL action this fall!!!!
Alex Update: Alex is still growing like a weed. He is communicating better each day. He is learning how to jump (which means he's learning how to bounce into things...) That's about all for now. Thanks for stopping by...)
March 23, 1998
Hmmm....Another long time between updates...well let's see, I forgot to mention last time, that we are now part owners of the Green Bay Packers!! We own three shares! Not much else is going on, I am going to try to get my resume on-line soon. Spring is coming, and so are the projects. I will also try to update the pictures. Thanks for stopping by...
December 30, 1997
Wow, It's been a long time since I've updated this page. Alex is walking great now. He has even started to say one or two words. Christmas was good to all of us. Among other things we got a SCREAMIN' PC!!. Alex made out with lots of clothes, books and toys. There are, of course, some things we didn't get. If you are looking for something to get one of us, click on the 'presents' icon below. (It only appears on this page.)
July 31, 1997
Well, we're at it again. We've been painting! We just finished this summers painting project (painting most of the upstairs). We've also made some updates to this page. We added a section for computer development stuff (mainly web tutorials and shareware stuff). We also added a button on each page to return to the 'home' page. Alex is doing well. He continues to walk better each day. That's all for today, thanks for stopping by!
July 16, 1997
Well we are playing with javascript. If you didn't check it out, go back to the main page and move you mouse over the Green Bay text. (give it a second or two, because it loads the other image (basically a lighter image)) Hey, it's a start, I think it's cool. I will try to use the same premise along with an imagemap to add java comments to the oaf picture.
July 14, 1997

IT WALKS!

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later...Alex is walking!!! He took his first steps on Thursday night (about 12 in a row!!) Since then he has been taking steps all the time. He averages about four or five steps at a time. In other news, we've been busy sanding and patching a couple rooms upstairs, getting them ready for paint. We've also been busy planting day lilies out by the road. That's all for now!
June 26, 1997
Alex went in for his 9 month checkup today. He is 21.5lbs (60th percentile) and 30" long (93rd percentile). He is doing well no that he has the tubes in his ears. He is almost walking. (He can walk if he is pushing or holding on to something.) The house is coming along well, the next project will be to clean up the patch job in the master bedroom (where daddy put his foot through the ceiling) and to build a ramp for the shed. Thanks for stopping by.
June 6, 1997
Well the dirt has been seeded and the grass is coming in nicely! Alex had tubes put in his ears to help prevent ear infections. They seem to be doing well. They also help his balance! (No more fluid in the ear). We just liquidated our bank account! We bought new bedroom furniture and a big 35" TV!!!!! (Macy's is discontinuing their electronics dept., and everything is on sale-so hurry!) That's all for now, more updates as they become available.
May 10, 1997
Well spring is finally here in the Northeast! We have already begun the home projects. First up is lawn care. I just finished shoveling 12 YARDS of dirt! (That's a lot of dirt) The dirt is needed to help level out the front yard. We couldn't have done it without the help of my brother Terence! (You can find a picture of him in our on-line photo album). Alex is still growing like a weed! Not only is he growing, but he CRAWLS!!! (Lock up the cabinets!) He is also pulling himself up on the furniture, and standing without our help! But then he tries to walk and bangs his head into whatever he was climbing on. Maybe we should get him a crash helmet. Unfortunately he also has another set of ear infections...:(
March 14, 1997
Mike has just turned 30!!! It's all downhill from here. We don't get to update this page as often as we would like, but as you can see, we have redesigned the page again!! We removed the frames, added 'icony' buttons, added more pictures (click on the photo album) and added more links in each section. So look around and tell us what you think! Thanks for stopping by!
Jan 31, 1997!
Well It's been a while since I last updated this page. A lot has happened since then; The holidays were great! Alex got a TON of stuff!! Construction resumed on the windows, and we finally got them in on December 3rd (3 months late).
Alex is 4 months old, he is 26" long and weighs 16lbs!!! Unfortunately, he has also been suffering with ear infections. (It's the winter time, so we expected as much.) And he just got over a severe virus (RSV). But he is back to normal now.
I'll try and get some more pictures up and maybe redesign this page. (Add some color, some cooler icons, delete the frames - Some browsers still don't support frames) More updates when I can...
October 20
Well house construction has stopped for the moment. The contractor we were dealing with kept jerkin' us around so we fired him. (He was two months late on a one month job.) Now we'll probably go through Home Depot. In other news; Alex had a checkup at about 3 1/2 weeks, he is 22" long and weighs 10lbs, 10oz!! He is in the 75th percentile! (he is bigger than 75% of all other 3 1/2 week olds!) However, Alex has already had his first cold, and this has turned into his first earache. :(
October 6-It's a BOY!
It's been a long time since last update, so here goes...
On Thursday September 26, 1996 Alexander Scott Barton was born! He weighed 8lbs 4ozs and was 21" long. The family is doing well. Actual baby pictures are here!!-So check them out!.
House construction continues, we are replacing 5 windows in the house, hopefully this will be done by mid-October.
July 14
Well,as you can see, We've made some changes. We're trying to class the page up a little bit. Along with the new graphics, there is some new information,... Check out the Redskins and Packer pages for schedules and notes for each team.
June 9, 1996
Just one little note this week: We've got baby pictures!
June 1,1996
Well as you can see there have been some changes!!! This page now uses frames!! I'm now toying with some java scripts and I hope to get them up soon... Well the deck is now outfitted (tables, chairs, Bug Zapper,...) The current/neverending house project is battling back the overgrown brush/weeds/poison ivy!

May 19, 1996
Well, the deck is finished!! The contractor did a GREAT job! Now we've got to get some deck furniture for it. I'll have to get some pictures uploaded soon. Also look for a new home page layout soon. I've been experimenting with frames...

April 06, 1996 -
