Wow, Thanksgiving is over and we survived another BLACK FRIDAY. I just uploaded a BUNCH of new pictures, so
go check them out. Mike and the boys just got back from the Invitational, where they watched the Cardinals
beat up the Rams. The family also just got back from Shari's parent's house (in NC) where they spent
Thanksgiving. Alex didn't make the middle school basketball team, but he did make the Kiwanas team (and is
loving it). He is also trying out for a part in the middle school play "The Trial of Goldilocks". Sounds
a lot like the Hoodwinked cartoon from a few years ago. Lucas is also playing basketball this year. He
really enjoys playing and is getting increasingly excited about his upcoming birthday and Christmas (and who
isn't!) That's all for now

Lot's of updates this year! As you can see, we've made some changes. I have converted the site
to be driven off style sheets instead of HTML tables. I have also changed the look and style of the
site. It still may evolve and change colors, but I like the layout and the changing image in the
header. Also, I am formally promoting the forum/arcade area on the site. If you go to http://forum.bartoncentral.com
you can see the forum I've been playing with and there is a game section! Stop by and see if you can claim
a trophy or two!
On the family front, it is now September. Kids are back in school. Alex is in 7th grade and will be
trying out for the boys basketball team. Lucas is in 3rd grade and will be swimming this year (no
flag football). Shari has picked up some work with the school district (primarily subbing work). Pepper is
the only one staying at the house.

It's taken 6 months, but Mike finally found a permanent position. He took on some consulting work
during the off time, but he is now a full time employee at Summa Health System. Summa is a large
hospital system here in the Akron area. The commute is actually shorter than it was at Eaton!

Another sad day in the Barton house. Alex is now officially taller than Shari. He is a full
5 feet 10 inches tall. We knew this day was coming, we just didn't know it would happen when
the boy was only 12! Shari is taking this especially hard. Lucas is currently on a faster pace.
At 8 years old, he is taller than Alex was at 9! If he has the same growth spurts, he'll be taller
than Shari by the time he is 11! (Don't tell Shari I said that). On a lighter note,
Shari also had surgery in March, and again in May. She has recovered and is doing great.

Alex starred as the Cowardly Lion in the middle school's presentation of the Wizard of Oz. He
was the only 6th grader to have a lead role in the play. He did an awesome job!

Some of you may have heard, but on January 21 Mike was laid off from Eaton. The news was a
complete surprise. We appreciate all the well wishes and hope to find something soon.
He has had lots of phone calls and interviews, but nothing has turned into a job yet. If you are looking
for a senior IT Leader, download his resume and give him a call!
